The golden desert triangle boasts of the mighty
Mehrengarh fort of Jodhpur, the golden city (Satyajit Ray's Sonar Kela)
of Jaisalmer and the unique rat temple at Deshnoke of BIKANER. For more
adventurous we recommend camel safari from non-tourist rural areas away
from the big towns. Add 2-3 days. JODHPUR stands on a range of sandstone
hills surrounded by a strong wall nearly 10 Km (6 miles) in length, with
seven gates. Dominating the city is an eminence surmounted by a massive
fortress - within the walls are royal palaces with priceless jewels and
a striking collection of arms. JAISALMER As soon as you enter Jaisalmer,
you find a massive citadel shining through a veil of golden haze. An
enduring fantasy. Narrow, cobbled alleys. Clusters of havelis, profusely
ornamented and embellished. Smiles on bejewelled faces and tales of
heroism and chivalry. This is Jaisalmer. |
- Arrive Bikaner. PM visit the fort. Evening
visit the bazaars.
- AM visit Deshnoke temple and thereafter leave
for Jaisalmer enroute visiting temple complex of Kolayat.
- AM city tour. Evening sun-set point or option
of overnight safari.
- PM leave for Jodhpur. Overnight
- AM visit Meherengarh fort. Later leave by
train/air for onward destination.
